My favorite illustration project to this day - this snowballed from doing just the line illustrations for the characters to full color and backgrounds!
A series of inspirational books for young girls, the goal was a brave and bright energy for the characters. For some (like Harriet Tubman) we had historical photos of the girl in the story as an adult, but for many I got to design the character simply based on the author’s notes! I loved doing my own historical research, coming up with color palettes, and just drawing these! I also snuck my sister and I in as models for 2 of the characters we didn’t have photos for :)
